If you have a new website, or have just written some new content, you need to know how to index your website and your content fast, so that it can be found in Google, Bing and other search engines.
The very best way to do this is through Social Bookmarking, as the the major search engines send their spiders to these sites many times daily.
So when you add your site, as a bookmark, on one of these sites, these spiders will find your link, follow it back to your site, and add it to their directory – so you are now indexed.
Now, although this article is about getting your site and content indexed by using social bookmarking sites, you will also discover some other social bookmarking advantages, as the links you generate create a do follow back-link, and generate additional traffic to your website, due to the social aspect.
But… Not Quite As Good As It Once!
To be honest the back-linking aspect is not as powerful as it once was, as savvy webmasters, worked out that if they got thousands of these links, then it would propel their sites to the top of the search results, however it did not take Google long to work out what was going on and started to devalued the power if the link from SB sites.
That said, it still is a worthwhile exercise, due to the indexing, additional traffic, and small value and authority that the back-link still provides.
So thats the summary out of the way, lets give you a better understanding of how it all works.
So Just What Is Social Bookmarking, and How Can it Help Index my Website in Google?
Now if you don’t know what social bookmarking is all about, let me give you an example of how I use them.
My business involves building WordPress websites, for my clients, and I am always on the lookout for new WordPress themes. As I search online, and find a new themes that I like, I will add them to my favorite bookmarking service, so that I may access them later to either compare, purchase, or simply go back to at a later date.
Now here’s the interesting part.
Social Bookmarking are social sites, meaning that anything that I bookmark, is publicly shared (Unless I choose to keep them private of course!) This means that my bookmarks are now available for others to see and use.
So lets put this into practice,
Lets say, for example, you are also looking for a new WordPress theme for your website.
Instead of spending hours searching online, you could head over to one of the Social Bookmarking sites, and find that there are 100’s of people, ( like myself!), who have already done the research and bookmarked the same sites, that you would be looking for.
So instead of spending hours and hours of time looking for these themes, you simply log in to a social bookmarking site, and find all of these amazing WordPress Themes, that have been bookmarked by others.
And this is why it’s super powerful. Google and other search engines love these sites simply because bookmarking sites help reveal good sites, that people like, trust and are willing to tell the world about.
So now let me explain how it can get your website and content indexed, and also help increase your rank and your traffic
As we said before, Google loves Social Bookmarking sites as they are super high authority sites, and Google is going to spider these sites for new content many times daily, meaning that your link will be picked up and followed, allowing your website or content to be indexed almost immediately.
So you now understand that getting a link from these sites would be in your best interest.
Now for the bad part!
You ideally want to be submitting all of the different content on your site to different bookmarking sites to try and generate some traffic and back-links, and this can be a long, tedious process.
It can take many hours, but I want to show you a quick and easy way to start utilizing social bookmarking to generate traffic and rank your site in Google and the other major search engines.
How About A Social Bookmarking Submission Software To Automate the Process
There is a social bookmarking submission software called OnlyWire.com that automates the whole process.
Its quite slow to start as you need to join all of the Social Bookmarking sites in their directory such as Delicious, Digg, Stumble Upon, Reddit, and other sites.
But once you have created account with these sites, every time you want to submit content, you just enter various titles and descriptions into the relevant fields and submit – Only wire will then post all of your bookmarks for you.
Now this is a paid service, so it does cost some money, but it is well worth it for those who are posting content on a regular basis. The pro version is $12.99 monthly subscription.
If you are not ready to commit to a monthly subscription, there is an alternative.
How About Outsourcing The Service For A Lot Less Money!
If you go to Fiverr.com you can find people who have accounts with Only Wire and will submit your bookmarks for you for $5.
Just a word of warning here.
There are many people on Fiverr.com offering a bookmarking service from TribePro. When content is submitted to TribePro, you can get thousands and thousands of links that are pointing back to your site.
However, if Google sees a massive amount of back-links that suddenly come to your site and stops, then Google will think, “okay this is not natural.” And you may find your post, or worse still, your whole site de-indexed.
The best way forward is to find somebody on Fiverr who will manually submit your links to social bookmarking sites.
It doesn’t matter if it’s 20 or 30 social bookmarking sites, as it gets my site and content indexed and ranked versus have a piece of software that submits to 2000 & 3000, times and gets my site sandboxed.
And what I normally do is after I get somebody to submit let’s say to 10, 20, or 30 social bookmarking sites, I request that they send me a list of social bookmarking sites that they have used.
I get other people on Fiverr to build back-links that point to those links that are on the social bookmarking site.
So that way you’re not having hundreds of links pointing directly to your site. You got ten or twenty pointing to your site, and then 50 or more pointing to those links that eventually point to your site, this strengthens the link to your site, and helps build authority to your page and site.
What’s more it appears more natural to Google, than trying to go all out, and submit tons of links just through one site.
So that’s a strategy there, I use Fiverr.com simply because it’s cheap, it’s fast, and you can get pretty good quality work.
Finally, if you prefer slowly, and would like to create your own bookmarks, here is a list of the top five bookmarking services, which will all help you get your website indexed within hours.
